Frequently Asked Questions
Reflexology
-
Reflexology is a complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, face and hands correspond with different areas of the body. When pressure is applied to these areas or ‘reflexes’ it stimulates the movement of energy along the nerve channels, and helps to restore balance in the whole body. This enhances overall relaxation, helps bring internal organs and their systems into a state of optimum functioning, and increases blood supply. Reflexologists work holistically with their clients to enhance their wellbeing and vitality.
-
Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive therapy which is suitable for all ages. From the very young to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between. However, there may occasionally be times when it is not advisable to provide a treatment. If you have any concerns, simply give me a call and we can discuss over the phone.
-
Reflexology does not ‘cure,’ rather it aids the bodies own healing processes. Basically, it helps the body to do what it should have been doing in the first place. When used in conjunction with an holistic approach to health, reflexology can help to reduce stress levels, encourage relaxation, soothe aches + pains, reduce discomfort, improve circulation and enhance overall well-being. Many people find reflexology useful in helping to reduce stress related conditions such as tension headaches, digestive discomfort and hormonal imbalances.
Aromatherapy
-
Aromatherapy is the application of essential oils extracted from plants to promote health and wellbeing. It’s a holistic healing practice in which natural oils and their aromas are used to support the body, mind and spirit.
-
Essential oils are fragrant, volatile liquids extracted from an aromatic plant.
-
There are many ways to enjoy essential oils including: massage, a diffuser, inhalation (steam/tissue), in the bath, body products such as oils, sprays and moisturisers.
-
They work in two main ways: by entering the system via the skin, and secondly via the lining of the lungs through inhalation. The active components of the oils are absorbed into the bloodstream and spread their therapeutic properties throughout the body.
-
Aromatherapy can provide much needed support in times of stress, and can help with the associated symptoms of anxiety, depression, hormonal imbalance and so on. An aromatherapist will always select a blend of essential oils specifically with your unique needs in mind. For example, if you are feeling stressed and unable to sleep, it may be that we need to utilise a hormone balancing and relaxing synergy of oils like roman chamomile, lavender and rose to help ease anxiety and restore calm
-
Essential oils have many health benefits when used safely, however they can become dangerous when used incorrectly. Do not apply directly to the skin, without diluting in a carrier oil or cream. Never add them to any food or drink. Some oils can irritate the skin and mucous membranes, some must be avoided by children, in pregnancy, or the vulnerable. Some are not recommended for use with certain medications. If you are unsure about using any of them, consult with a qualified clinical aromatherapist.
Treatments
-
It’s always best to arrive in comfortable clothing, be well hydrated, and put your phone on silent. If possible, leave your worries at the door.
For foot reflexology I will need to access your lower legs and feet.
For facial treatments, if you are comfortable, it is best to remove your top, so that I can better access your face, neck and shoulders, and avoid getting any product on your clothing. I will ask you to remove any jewellery around the neck, face and ears.
-
To gain the full benefits of your treatment, the following is recommended:
• Drink lots of water. This will hydrate the body, improve energy levels and flush out toxins.
• Avoid strenuous exercise and rest for at least two hours after the treatment.
• Avoid stimulants such as alcohol, tea and coffee. These can diminish the effectiveness of the treatment.
• Stick to a light, healthy diet to enable your body to heal.
• Note down any reactions you have for your next session.
Making an appointment
-
Please contact me directly and I’ll see if I can fit you in. Alternatively, I can put you on my waiting list and let you know when a space become available.
-
Unfortunately I don’t treat men as I specialise in women’s health. If you contact me though, I can put you in touch with other reflexologists who may be able to help.
-
I understand that sometimes illness or obligations mean that you need to reschedule your appointment. Please note that I require 48 hours notice when cancelling or rescheduling. This enables me enough time to fill the space. Any less and I may have to charge you for the session.
Gift Cards

Sorry but I don’t offer gift cards. Choosing a therapist is a personal decision and I prefer to work with clients who have chosen me directly.
